Last March 14-20, SM Aura Premier held its Beauty Fair that features your favorite beauty brands at awesome and discounted prices. The week-long exhibit was highlighted by a weekend sale that gave shoppers as high as 70% discount.

According to statistics, Filipino nurses are very active in looking for better opportunities in the US. In fact, even as early as high school, many are set to make nursing their ticket out of the country and for some, out of poverty.
However, earning one’s nursing degree and acquiring their Philippine license are just some of the first few steps before they realize their dream. Aside from having the required work experience, there are additional certifications and licenses needed to be able to practice in the US. Aside from investing time and effort, there is also a substantial amount of money needed to facilitate and complete the requirements.
Raphael Macapagal, President and CEO of Ascent, shared that he was moved with what he saw before that there are 2,000 registered nurses in the Philippines who do not have work. Being a seasoned professional in the Business Processing Outsourcing (BPO) sector who managed and led companies connected to different verticals including healthcare, he saw the opportunity to bridge the gap recognizing that there are hundreds of thousands of nurses needed in the US.
“The missing piece is the US license, and this is where we come in,” Macapagal pointed out. In reality, their scope of work is highly related to healthcare. They do clinical work, only remotely. After the Filipino nurses gain their US license, Ascent requires them to work with their partner organizations for two years.
“Being a US registered nurse will definitely give them a premium and this will reflect on their salary when they go and work with our partner organizations. We hope that through this effort we can convince them that there is an opportunity here in the Philippines. They don’t need to leave. Here, they can experience working in the US with a premium salary without having to leave their family and loved ones. There are opportunities in the Philippines,” he said.
Nevertheless, Macapagal added, if after two years they will choose to leave and work abroad, Ascent will also help them with opportunities through their connections in the US.

Got so excited and surprised to receive an invite to join the cook-off challenge for the media to be held at the Kamia 1 & 2 Garden Wing, EDSA Shangri-la Hotel in Mandaluyong, this was last April 20.
At first I was a bit skeptical to join, thinking what would I cook in the challenge, how do I plate my dish, and so many other concerns.

But on the day of the event, ‘am so glad I did join the challenge, together with my daughter, Sam, we had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the cooking challenge. It was an unforgettable experience for us.
First off, we were treated to a heavy breakfast buffet of burgers, fries, overflowing coffee, tea and desserts!
They even gave us our own Chef’s hat and apron also part of the tokens given. Awesome! Isn’t it J ‘Am glad I got to experience this with Sam.
Just like “My Kitchen Rules”, the most popular cooking show in Australia, the media/blogger participants were given a chance to show their skills in cooking like chef-quality dishes. We were divided into 3 groups, and I must say I love our group – Team 1.

Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) confirmed its participation in the upcoming Nissan GT Academy 2016, which will be launched later this year. This was announced during an exclusive screening of the Nissan GT Academy reality show, produced by NPI’s broadcast partner ABS-CBN, last April 1, 2016 at the Bonifacio High Street Cinema.
A virtual-to-reality racing competition, the Nissan GT Academy gives aspiring race cars drivers a chance to fulfill their dream of participating in a professional international race.
“The Nissan GT Academy is Nissan’s way of democratizing motorsports, to make it more accessible to the general public.” said SJ Huh, NPI General Manager for Marketing “By doing this, we help fast-track the dreams of more potential Filipino racers to reach the international racing arena.”
First launched locally in March 2015, the Nissan GT Academy saw over 13,000 aspiring racers participate in over 20 live events held in key cities in the country within a four month period. Twenty players with the best race time in the game then advanced to compete in the National Finals, where they were subjected to physical, driving, media, and virtual challenges to determine the top six contenders.
From the 20 finalists, Luis Cachero, Rafel Lesaguis, Terence Lallave, Joward Policaprio, Joel Agojo, and Daryl Brady were selected to join the Race Camp at the Silverstone Racing Circuit in the United Kingdom in August 2015.
The Philippine Top 6 then underwent a 9-day competition against finalists from Japan, Thailand, India, and Indonesia to determine one winner for the Nissan GT Academy Asia leg. Joward Policarpio bested the rest of the finalists in a qualifying race and was named the first Nissan GT Academy Asia Champion.
“2015 was an excellent year for the first Nissan GT Academy in the Philippines, with Joward becomign the first Nissan GT Academy Asia champion. Obesity and illness
