Nippon Releases New Color Trends for 2016 / 2017

Nippon Paint (Coatings) Philippines, launched it second “Trend Beyond Colours”, unveiling the nine key colour palettes featured across three inspirational palettes: “We Are One”, “New Eco”, and “Wonder-Lust”.  Each theme features three unique colours, allowing consumers to explore and express their imagination.
The first series, “We Are One”, features modern colours reminding how new age technology and social media are constantly affecting our lives and keeping us connected wherever we are.  The palette features Founder Blue (NP B 1527D), Gray Knight (NP N 2001T), and Green Tuft (NP BGG 1666A), accentuating people’s connection in a world without boundaries where digital devices are an indispensable part of our life today.

The second series, "New Eco" celebrates the wonders and simplicity of Mother Earth. Inspired by nature, "New Eco" brings consumers back in touch with the environment from its quietly stylish but ultimately comforting colours. The palette reinterprets Asia's captivating nature, from the vintage soul of Asia to the serene oceans and mighty volcanoes personified by its three colours, Tavern Buff (NP N 1867P), Lush (NP BGG 1605T), and Volcanic Black (NP N 1918A).

The third collection, "Wonder-Lust" embodies today's YOLO or "You Only Live Once" culture as it explores one's discovery for the perfect balance in life through our continual search for new interests, hobbies, experiences and adventures. For consumers that aren't afraid of some excitement in their life, "Wonder-Lust" is equally big, bold, and bright in colours. The lively colours features are Being Peach (NP YO 1219T), Fast Car (NP AC 2076A), and Blue Lullaby (NP PB 1550P).

The nine colours are forecasted to drive utilization across various industries and applications in 2016 and 2017.

The nine trend colours were curated and handpicked by more than 50 design professionals, colour experts and enthusiasts from all over the Asia Pacific Region, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, China, India, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, and Japan, held at the Asia Pacific ChromaZone Colour Forecasting Workshop 2015 in Japan earlier this year.

Michael Chung, General Manager of Nippon Paint (Coatings) Philippines, explained why these palettes were chosen. "To create these palettes, we have analyzed the effects of colours and how behaviour is influenced by colour, fashion, retail performance, lifestyle trends, and culture in today's world. Nippon Paint's Trend Beyond Colors will inspire consumers to create their own designer styles drawing on the three themes handpicked by our designers. The publication is packed with many photos and ideas, featuring our designers' personal tips and recommendations on how the colour palette can be cleverly and innovately applied on both interior and exterior surfaces," Chung further explained.

These colours can be coated to almost any imaginable surfaces, including wood, tiles, cement, slate, and glass. Consumers can also use these colours to mimic the look and feel of three-dimensional textures of stone, marble, velvet, or satin using the series of Nippon Paint Momento Special Effect Paint.

Cook Magazine’s 5th Holiday Bash

My friends and I were  invited to attend Cook Magazine’s exciting, fun filled, disco fever themed night as a way to celebrate their 5th Annual Holiday Bash last November 24, 2015 at Houze Manila, Remington Hotel, in Resorts World.  They celebrate it every year as a thanksgiving party to everyone who has supported the magazine for the past year.  I tremendously enjoyed the party, with delicious food, overflowing drinks and cocktails, the Lydia’s Lecon, Magnum Ice Cream, lots and lots of raffle prizes, loot bags, giveaways and a lot lot more.  This is my 1st party for the coming Christmas season and I must say “What a way to start the Holidays!” Thanks Cook Magazine for the memories!

Cook Magazine, hosted a generous fun night with their event and food sponsors , advertisers and media partners. It was indeed a wonderful gathering for Cook magazine Family!  Let’s see how can they top off their beautiful celebration next year!

Cook Magazine, in celebrating its 15th year of publication, continues to look for ways to involve our readers and evolve into a more complete experience. While sharing recipes and food finds through articles and pictures are what we’ve been doing for over a decade, we’d like to bring the reader closer to the action and actually take them along in our journeys of food discovery.

Last year, we launched the Cook Magazine Studio Kitchen, a venue where cooking, eating and food photography all seamlessly blend. The kitchen has had a bit of a spruce up recently, with Mother’s Best sponsoring kitchen cabinetry and a new backsplash. The addition added some warmth to the kitchen and provides a space to display products like Mother’s Best condiments.

On the editorial side, we also added a couple of new sections to the magazine. Our Home & Living section contains crafts, decorating and DIY projects. The Health & Wellness section by our good friend, Dolly Dy-Zulueta features food and beverage products, restaurants and destinations that promote wellbeing.

COOK CLUB

Being in the food publication industry, restaurant invitations are a daily occurrence for the Cook team. Whether it is to try out and feature newly opened places, new menu items from old favorite digs or to meet and greet clients and potential advertisers, eating is and has always been a part of our job. But among our numerous dining adventures, our Foodie Road Trips are the most fun and most anticipated. These are the trips out of town we do to discover dining destinations, a food tour that takes us to towns big and small in search of the best eating a province has to offer. Of course, it doesn’t just stop with the eating. These trips are also opportunities to see the sights, enjoy the hotels and resorts and meet fellow food lovers all around the country.

Cook Club was established for our loyal readers, so that we can take them along on these food tours and share with them the discoveries we make. Travelling by land provides us the opportunity to bond with our members during the journey, while at the same time having the flexibility to stop and make detours as we wish. Aside from the food, Cook Club members will also experience the same hospitality extended to us by partner hotels and resorts throughout the country.

As part of Cook Club, members also get to share their favorite recipes and foodie finds. Not only will these be posted on our Facebook page and website, but our favorite members’ posts will also be published in Cook Magazine every month. It is our way of giving our readers the complete Cook Magazine experience, bringing them along in our journey of food discovery and sharing these experiences with the world through our magazine, website and through social media. Cook Club literally lets each reader become a member of the Cook Magazine team.

Best Day Ever with Kathryn Bernardo and AjiPanda!

I am very excited to attend this event, and see  #TeenQueen Kathryn Bernardo up close and personal!  Ajinomoto hosted a press conference dubbed as “AjiPanda™ Best Day Ever!” last November 24, 2015 at the Torre Venezia Suites in Quezon City. The event highlighted the launch of AjiPanda™ icon, information sharing on umami and monosodium glutamate (MSG) and the contract renewal of Teen Queen Kathryn Bernardo as the brand endorser of AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning.

Roann Co, Ajinomoto’s Marketing Department Head, explains “AjiPanda™ personifies a humble pack or bottle of AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning as an ever-reliable way of bringing out the natural deliciousness of food. AjiPanda™ fills the role of ‘Your Best Friend in the Kitchen’ helping you work wonders in your cooking so that you can share many happy meals with your family.”

Dr. Frances Tan, a medical doctor with specialization in General Pediatrics, and a subspecialty in Allergy and Immunology, was invited to impart basic facts about umami and monosodium glutamate. She explained that umami is the 5th basic taste that allows people to enjoy the delicious taste in food. It is also described as “savory” or “malinamnam”. The source of this umami taste is glutamate. Glutamate is a non-essential amino acid that naturally occurs in food like tomatoes and cheeses and can be found in salt form through monosodium glutamate.

Scientific evidences from credible institutions like the World Health Organization (WHO), The United Nation’s Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (UN JECFA), were presented to affirm the safety of MSG for general consumption. Dr. Celeste Tanchoco, a veteran in the field of nutrition, was also present to shed light about the role of glutamate in nutrition.

Ms. Kathryn Bernardo graced the event for her contract renewal as brand endorser of AJI-NO-MOTO®. According to Kathryn, she finds cooking for her family very rewarding. She would love for the new generation of cooks to experience the joys of home-cooking with her new best friend in the kitchen – AjiPanda™.

Cuteness Overload. Ms. Kathryn Bernardo poses with AjiPanda™.

So glad to have a picture with Kathryn,
a very nice young lady and accommodating.
